Hollywood Bowl signs for Christmas opening at Resorts World Birmingham

The UK’s largest ten pin bowling operator has signed a 15-year lease for 26,000 sq ft to create 17 bowling lanes, including four VIP lanes, a bar, diner and a large amusements area. Work is due to be completed by December, allowing the venue to open for the Christmas holidays.

Situated just five minutes from Birmingham International train station in the heart of the NEC campus, Resorts World opened in 2015 as a retail and leisure destination including outlet shopping, bars and restaurants, cinema, hotel and casino. This new tenancy emphasises Genting UK’s strategic direction for the resort switching to a mixed leisure, entertainment and retail destination.

Jason Kirsch, Resorts World Operations Director, commented: "Welcoming Hollywood Bowl to Resorts World forms part of our strategy to further strengthen our leisure offer. Resorts World sits within the UK’s premier destination for exhibitions and events and this will add to the attraction and support the NEC Group’s proposed masterplan. To be home to the market leading bowling operator is a major component in providing our visitors with a wide ranging and first class entertainment experience. We are thrilled that Hollywood Bowl is joining us at Resorts World."

Laurence Keen, Chief Financial Officer at Hollywood Bowl Group, added: “We are pleased to have secured another prime, high footfall destination to enable us to continue to execute on our new venue opening strategy. We’re delighted to be bringing the Hollywood Bowl brand experience to Resorts World and to be a part of this exciting development in Birmingham.”

Ross Kirton, Head of Leisure Agency at Colliers said: “Genting UK has understood the change in consumer demands for shopping centres to become a destination for both day and night time by providing a broad range of entertainment, good quality food and beverage offers alongside retail choices which can cater to all age ranges. They were ambitious in their commitment to repurpose a whole mall in order to re-imagine the resort for their customers.”

Colliers and REALM are retained leasing agents for Genting Group in respect of the hospitality and leisure uses at Resorts World.
