Northumberland Premier Inn gets green light

Plans to develop a new Premier Inn hotel within a Northumberland trading estate have been approved.

Northern Commercial Properties plans involve the construction of a three-storey, 83-bed hotel on an approximately 3.5-acre site within Willowburn Trading Estate in Alnwick. The proposals involve the demolition of a series of vacant industrial buildings at the site.

The scheme also includes the provision of a ground floor restaurant/bar, along with a range of staff facilities.

Accessed from South Road, the hotel will provide 85 car parking spaces, including four accessible bays and two electric vehicle charging points.

A statement filed with the council on behalf of the applicant said: "The proposals create an opportunity to provide a well-designed scheme within a high-quality landscape which complements its surroundings and is able to utilise successfully the existing infrastructure within the area."

The scheme has now been approved by Northumberland County Council, subject to conditions.
