Young’s add renowned Sussex pub to their portfolio

The winner of the Great British Pub 2017 has been acquired by Young’s, who were advised by Fleurets.

The Bull Ditchling in Sussex, was owned by the Worrall family for over 18 years, during which time they transformed a once bankrupt tenancy into a beautiful and much loved freehold operation – going on to win a plethora of awards.

“The Bull wasn’t on the market, but following a discreet approach from Nick Earee [Divisional Director of Fleurets], and his complete understanding of both what we had been able to achieve here and our standards, he was able to introduce Young’s as a potentially suitable match”, said Dominic Worrall, former owner of the pub.

“Once we had an opportunity to look at their business model, ethics and the relationship that exists between Young’s, their teams, suppliers and customers, we were prepared to sit down with them. I think that this acquisition offers The Bull the opportunity to further establish itself as one of the finest pubs in UK and for the team here to further their experience and progress with a fantastic company.”

And Dominic has nothing but praise for the Young’s team saying, “There has been a great synergy to working with Brendan Brammer and his team at Young’s to make the deal work for all parties. I have an enormous amount of respect for the team there and really wish them all the best in building on the 20 years’ worth of love and passion that we have put into The Bull.”

Nick Earee added: “Having known Dominic and this outstanding pub for over 20 years, I am delighted to have been able to act for Young’s to buy the freehold and I am sure it will continue of be one of the best pubs in the South East.”

Brendan Brammer, Acquisition Manager for Young’s comments “We are delighted to have acquired such a landmark pub in a fabulous location, growing our presence in Sussex. A huge thanks to Dom, Nick and all involved in making it happen. The acquisition of the Bull fits perfectly with our strategy of acquiring scalable pubs in strong demographical areas for the Young’s premium managed estate.”
