Falkirk bar High Spirits relaunching under new owners tonight

18 October 2019

Falkirk bar High Spirits is re-opening tonight after being acquired by new family-owned Knightway Inns Ltd from Highlands bar and restaurant operator Cru Holdings Ltd.

The new management team, made up of Elaine Knight, her son Jordan and husband Garry, was chosen to oversee the running of the pub due to their local knowledge.

New general manager Jordan (21) has worked at the Vicar Street bar since it launched last September, winning Cru Holdings’ Employee of the Year award during that time.

Dad and head of security Garry (55) also has experience of the pub industry in Falkirk district, having previously owned former Grangemouth venues JT’s and Rendezvous, as well as the Carronshore Bar.

The majority of staff at the cocktail bar have been retained under TUPE.

The bar was sold last month by Cru to the new company.

The pub was the company’s first operation outside Inverness and after 12 months operations, the decision was made to put it on the market.

Cru Holdings managing director Scott Murray said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the community, our customers and of course our staff over the last 12 months, which has seen us realise our goal of operating a bar outside of our native Inverness.

“We have learned a lot from this process, however ultimately the challenges of a remote operation outweigh the benefits of the operation, and we have had to make the tough decision to withdraw from the area.

“The unit is trading extremely well, and we are certain that the new operators will be able to further build on the success.”

He added: “I would like to thank the staff and customers for their continued support throughout the last year. We are proud of what we have achieved, and hope that you are too.”

Cru Holdings operates Inverness venues Scotch & Rye, Bar One, Prime, Angels’ Share, Dow’s Bar & Bistro and The Keg.
