Staffordshire pub chain to open new restaurant at Trentham Gardens

02 March 2021

The Parogon Pub Group is opening a new site at one of Staffordshire's most popular visitor attractions.

The pub group – which runs the Swan with Two Necks in Blackbrook, the Orange Tree in Newcastle and the Wayfarer in Stone among others – has taken on the Restaurant Group's former Joe’s Kitchen unit at the Trentham Estate.

The company wants to transform the site into a ‘new, all-day dining concept’ perfect for breakfast, lunch, evening meals and ‘dinner dates.’

A licensing application submitted to Stafford Borough Council reveals that the new site will be called Willow.

If the application is approved it will be open seven days a week between 8am and 12.30am.

Willow will be the eighth venue in Parogon’s portfolio and will lead to the creation of 40 new kitchen, bar and waiting-on jobs.

Group managing director, Richard Colclough, told Stoke-on-Trent Live: “We have exciting plans to accelerate the growth of Parogon Group once the current restrictions come to an end. It’s been an incredibly tough period for the industry but we’ve been busy behind the scenes laying the foundations for future expansion. Trentham Gardens provides the fabulous location for us to introduce a new, all day dining concept to the area. It will be the perfect spot for coffee and cake while walking the dog and also for a fun-filled dinner date. Relaxed days and upbeat evenings is our theme for this new site.”

He added: “There is a buzz about the company for us to be creating a new brand especially in the current climate and also to be associated with Trentham as it’s so popular.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the jewel in Staffordshire’s crown and believe visitors will love what we have in store. The new venue will be a destination in its own right too.”

The Parogon Pub Group is owned and operated by five local shareholders.

It employs 430 people across its sites and boasts an annual turnover in excess of £15 million.

Recruitment for the new site will begin in April ahead of its planned opening in mid-June under newly-appointed general manager Matt Compton.

Parogon's announcement follows the news that a Spanish tapas restaurant is opening at Trentham Shopping Village.

Can Do Cocina will specialise in Spanish tapas, beer and Mediterranean cocktails when it opens once the Covid-19 restrictions have lifted.
