Making Delivery Good – SRA announces webinar alongside essential advice for introducing delivery

30 March 2020

The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) is to host a webinar designed to help operators set up a safe and sustainable delivery model.

The webinar will feature experts from the main delivery platforms, restaurateurs who have just started serving customers this way for the first time as well as experienced deliverers, who will share their advice, best practice and experiences.

Anyone considering setting up a delivery service from their pub or restaurant or looking to improve on their existing model, can tune in on Wednesday 1st April at midday. Sign-up here.
Based on the guidance provided by the main platforms, the SRA has also produced a six-step guide to safe and sustainable delivery. This is available to download now.

The webinar will include all the practical information required to set up:
• From registering your business
• Staffing levels
• Social distancing
• Menu rationalisation
• Packaging and
• Calculating optimum opening hours

Amy Heather, Head of Strategic Accounts for Just Eat UK, will provide essential information on setting up and establishing yourself for delivery during the pandemic.

Among the operators providing their perspective will be Andrei Lussmann who is trialling delivery from his Lussmanns Sustainable Fish and Grill in St Albans. Last weekend, his first trialling the new method of serving his loyal customers this way, was a success and Andrei will be able to share the challenges he overcame.

Ollie Hunter of The Wheatsheaf Chilton Foliat will share his experience of providing regulars of his Wiltshire pub with a click and collect service for a pared down version of the menu.
More operators are due to confirm within the next 24 hours.

Andrew Stephen, Chief Executive of the SRA, said: “With all restaurant, pub and café doors closing, many operators have looked to takeaway and delivery as a means of continuing to raise revenue, employ staff and feed customers. This webinar is designed to make that process as smooth and effective as possible.”

The three main delivery platforms have all seen an upsurge in new partners and are offering a range of incentives. Uber Eats and Just Eat have removed on boarding fees while, to help improve restaurants’ cashflow, Deliveroo has introduced daily payments. It’s seen 3,000 restaurants sign up in March.

The SRA is providing foodservice with a library of materials to help operators manage through the Covid-19 crisis.
