Afrikana Kitchen to open eighth UK store

African restaurant brand Afrikana Kitchen is set to make its mark in Essex with the opening of a new store in Lakeside Shopping Centre. The African-inspired dining franchise will open the store in the Thurrock-based shopping complex later in the summer.

The branch will be situated in the food court area near Subway and Thai Express. The store will replace the former Sainsy's Pie and Mash store which closed in July 2021.

The opening of the first Essex branch will become Afrikana Kitchen's eighth UK store since starting in 2018 with a restaurant in Aldridge. There is also a branch in Birmingham, Derby, Cardiff, Blackburn, Dalston and Leicester as well as the Aldridge and the upcoming Essex store.
