Arepita Sliders opens in Tooting

17 September 2020

Multi award-winning street food concept Sugoi JPN and the driving force behind the rise of London’s ‘dark kitchens’ are launching a new culinary concept, Arepita Sliders, today (17th September) in Tooting Broadway.

The Arepa is a naturally vegan and gluten-free pan-fried corn bun which originated hundreds of years ago and became a staple food within the Venezuelan and Colombian cultures.

The traditional Arepa has stayed largely unchanged but the team have developed a recipe tailored to meet the demands of the modern consumer, and the rise of the food delivery and takeaway market. Each Arepa is handmade with a nod to the traditional “Budare” process, but with a modern, creative twist - resulting in a flavourful, crisp on the outside, tender and fluffy on the inside Arepa.

Ideal for sharing with friends and family, you can FIY (fill it yourself) and mix and match freshly made fillings to find the perfect combination and at the same price as if you were to purchase from a traditional Arepa shop. Fillings include Pulled Beef, Black Bean, Pico de Gallo (tomatoes, coriander, red onion and lemon juice) and Reina Pepiada (a combination of chicken, avocado, red onion, mayo and coriander).

Designed to meet the growing demands of the vegan and gluten-free consumer market as well as online delivery due to the pandemic, the forward-thinking team at Arepita Sliders are also on a mission to tackle one of the biggest challenges we are facing as a global community; food waste. The Arepita’s can be toasted the following day and fillings can be stored in the fridge and re-heated, and the Arepita’s eco-friendly packaging and cutlery is designed to offer customer value and improve sustainability in the hospitality industry.

The brand ambitiously plans to launch 20 sites across London over the coming year, with a target of 50 overall.
