Ego Mediterranean to open at Sutton Coldfield pub in £800k revamp

A popular restaurant chain is set to open a new venue at a Sutton Coldfield pub site which is set to close for weeks for the £800,00 refit. Ego Mediterranean has submitted plans to change the signage outside the Fox and Dogs pub on Little Sutton Road in Mere Green as it prepares for refurbishment work, which will see the site triple its workforce.

The site will become Ego at the Fox and Dogs and will be the 23rd pub to offer Ego food, with the business also having seven other restaurant-only sites, like the Ego in Lichfield city centre. The Sutton Ego will be the first in the Birmingham area and is expected to attract local customers who are known to travel to the Bird Street site in Lichfield.

Ego offers food from around the Mediterranean from French to Spanish and Italian. As well as Greek and Moroccan food.

The venue is set to close after Sunday, January 14 for six to seven weeks - to allow for the refit and a week of staff training with the new venue to open at the ‘beginning of March 2024’. It will reopen with space for 160 diners, as well as a pub area, too.
