Pizzeria Rudy's is opening a new restaurant in the suburbs of Greater Manchester

04 August 2020

Pizza chain Rudy's is opening its first Greater Manchester site outside the city centre later this year.

The restaurant, which first opened in Ancoats in 2015 serving authentic Neapolitan pizza, has secured a site in Sale on Northenden Road.

It will be their first step beyond Manchester city centre, where there are two Rudy's restaurants - the original site in Ancoats, and a much larger venue on Peter Street.

In the last few years, Rudy's - owned by Mission Mars - has expanded to open restaurants in Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham.

During lockdown, the pizzeria operated as a take-away and launched cook-at-home chilled pizzas, which are now available nationwide.

The new site will have 80 covers, making it only slightly smaller than the 100-cover Peter Street restaurant. The restaurant will have 50 seats in the main restaurant, 12 outside under a traditional canopy and 20 covers behind the open kitchen.

Its opening, currently pencilled in for October this year, will also bring 20 new jobs to the area.

Neal Bates, managing director of Rudy's, said: "The heat map from our delivery services, our overnight chilled option, showed that plenty residents of Sale seem to be fans of Rudy’s and their feedback has given us great heart.

"So we thought we’d get some good news going and open in the neighbourhood.

"Over the next two years we aim to open a further five restaurants in the satellite towns of Manchester serving local communities with informal family dining and delivery services.

"If you know of a premises or site that might be suitable, we would be delighted to hear from you."

Rudy's is due to open at 2 Northenden Road in Sale this October. They have submitted a licensing application to Trafford Council to open the premises.
