Plans to turn former bakers in the Borough of Wigan into a bar

Plans have been submitted to turn a former bakery shop in Atherton into a food and cocktail bar.

A change-of-use application has been submitted to Wigan Council has been issued to convert the former Waterfields store on Market Street.

The applicants are Mr and Mrs Evans of The Boston Pub Company, based at The Lock Cocktail Bar on Twist Lane in Leigh.

A web design and access statement in the plans says: "The changes identified as part of this planning application would bring this dated vacant building up to modern standards with excellent aesthetic appearances to all elevations whilst maintaining a more fit-for-use purpose to the property."

A decision on the plans is set to be made on March 9.
