New Chester plant-based restaurant & cocktail bar opens initially for takeaway

26 May 2020

A new plant-based restaurant and cocktail bar in Chester has opened, initially operating a takeaway service during the current coronavirus crisis.

Shrub was due to open in the former House premises on Eastgate Row in April, with its staff aiming to “create a 'modern café culture' where customers can sit with a good book, their laptop and friends to enjoy good beer, cocktails, coffee or tasty food, whether it be at 11am or 11pm”.

However, due to the pandemic, owners Calum Adams, Sammy Sale and Natasha Dignam had to put the opening on hold.

The new menu features plant-based main dishes including Thai red curry, Singapore noodles, calzone and doner kebab. There are also salads, mushroom calamari and nibbles like hummus, cauli-bites and filo cigars, and sweet potato brownies for dessert.
