Zeal submits new plans for Weston-super-Mare hotel

Zeal Hotels has applied for permission to redesign and reposition the proposed Holiday Inn Express hotel at Weston Gateway Business Park in North Somerset.

The planned hotel will be four storeys, with 119 bedrooms, a bar/restaurant area, conference rooms, car and coach parking.

"Weston Super Mare is historically a holiday destination however there is a considerable amount of commercial demand for hotel accommodation within the immediate area," said Zeal Hotels managing director Tim Wheeldon.

"The quality of the hotel and the proximity to J21 of the M5 will ensure a good cross section of business and leisure trade. Subject to planning, we hope to open the hotel in June 2021."

He added: "We are excited about this opportunity and this will be our third hotel in Somerset. The Holiday Inn Express Bridgwater (J24) opened in May 2019 and we are presently constructing an Ibis Hotel and Keepers Bar & Restaurant at Woodlands Court Business Park, Bridgwater (J23) which is scheduled to open in November 2020."

North Somerset Council will examine Zeal Hotels' application in due course.
