An 80-bed hotel, Miller & Carter steakhouse, drive-through coffee shop and trade stores are set to be built on the outskirts of Shrewsbury under plans for a new £8.6 million commercial development.

Up to 97 full-time equivalent jobs could be created if the scheme next to Battlefield Roundabout is given the go-ahead.

With Premier Inn, Costa Coffee, Miller & Carter and kitchen supplier Howdens already signed up to take on units at the site, planning agent Berry’s says the project will bring a welcome boost to Shrewsbury’s post-pandemic economy.

The plans, submitted by property developers Maximus Aequus, also include 222 parking spaces, electric car charging points, tree planting and the diversion of a public footpath which crosses the site

The application will be decided by Shropshire Council.
